TCU Suspends Boykin Following Arrest

TCU quarterback Trevone Boykin was arrested and accused of assaulting a patrol officer following a fight at Pat O’Brien’s in San Antonio early Thursday morning.

He was charged with public intoxication, resisting arrest and assaulting a public official, which a third-degree felony.

TCU suspended Boykin following the arrest.

It’s a major challenge for the Horned Frogs to lose the senior starting quarterback days before No. 11 TCU plays No. 15 Oregon in the Alamo Bowl.

Separate NBC TV affiliates in Texas reported bar patrons recognized Boykin and began “trash talking.”

Boykin took a swing but he missed his target and struck a bar employee. Police apparently tried to intervene when Boykin hit an officer. Multiple officers threatened to taser Boykin before he finally subsided, NBC San Antonio reported.

The school did not comment on Boykin’s status for Saturday’s game.

Boykin finished 10th in Heisman Trophy balloting. He had 3,574 yards passing and 31 touchdowns.
