FORT WORTH, Texas – Latricia Lovings led three Horned Frogs that scored in double figures with her third-career double-double as the TCU women’s basketball team posted a 60-52 victory over Stephen F. Austin on Wednesday night at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum.

Lovings tallied 11 points to go with a career-best 10 blocks and was just two rebounds shy of a triple-double with eight boards in 29 minutes of action. The senior from Fort Worth was 3-of-6 from the field and 5-of-6 from the free-throw line while also swiping three steals.

Junior guard Natalie Ventress rattled off a season-best 17 points, going 7-of-16 from the field, including a 3-of-6 mark from 3-point range, while sophomore guard Zahna Medley added 16 points off a 6-of-10 effort from the field.

The Horned Frogs (5-3) battled back from a slow start, trailing by as many as 11 points before outscoring the Ladyjacks (3-5) by a 16-7 margin over the final eight minutes of the first half. Medley capped off the TCU scoring with a deep 3-pointer at the buzzer to pull within one point at the break.

Ventress opened the second half with a layup to give TCU its first lead and Lovings followed with another layup to push the advantage to 31-28, but Stephen F. Austin bounced back with a 7-0 run to regain a 35-31 advantage at the 15:02 mark.

Lovings answered the bell with a move in the paint before Ventress heated up, draining back-to-back 3-pointers to push the TCU lead to 42-37.

The Frogs increased their advantage to eight points while holding SFA scoreless for nearly four minutes, and Ventress gave TCU its largest lead of 13 with a layup with less than five minutes to play.

TCU shot 52 percent (12-of-23) from the field in the final 20 minutes for a 45-percent effort for the game, while limiting the Ladyjacks to just 32 percent (20-of-63), marking the seventh opponent in eight games to be held to under 34 percent.

The Frogs struggled on the glass, dropping the rebounding battle by a 42-33 margin.

TCU returns to action against Texas-Pan American in a double header with the TCU men’s basketball program on Dec. 15 at 4 p.m., at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum.
