FORT WORTH, Texas – Zahna Medley and Natalie Ventress combined for 46 points to lead the TCU women’s basketball team to a dominating 72-57 win over Texas Tech on Saturday afternoon at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum.

The Horned Frogs claimed back-to-back wins in the Big 12 for the second time this season to improve to 14-9 overall and 5-6 in league action.

Medley led TCU with a game-high 23 points, going 9-of-20 from the field, including two 3-pointers, and 3-of-4 from the free-throw line in 33 minutes.

Ventress turned in her first 20-point performance of the season off a 7-of-13 effort from the field and perfect 4-of-4 mark from the charity stripe while also handing out a season-best three assists to go with two steals.

Junior forward Chelsea Prince followed up her career performance on Wednesday with 12 points, going 5-of-7 from the field, while also posting four steals and three assists in 29 minutes.

Senior center Latricia Lovings made history in the win, tying Sandora Irvin’s school by extending her consecutive games with a block streak to 62. The Fort Worth product posted six points and a

team-high eight rebounds in 26 minutes of action.

Junior guard Donielle Breaux followed her heroics from Wednesday’s thriller with a supporting role against the Red Raiders, matching career highs with six assists and four steals.

The Frogs got off to a fast start and never looked back, as Breaux snagged back-to-back steals for fastbreak layups to give TCU its first double-digit lead at 20-10 with 11:00 minutes remaining in the opening half.

After Tech pulled to within four on a 7-2 run at the 8:45 mark, the Frogs limited the Red Raiders to just four points for the rest of the half en route to a 34-22 lead at the break.

Medley quickly erased any chance of a letdown in the opening moments of the second half with back-to-back layups to extend TCU’s advantage to 38-22.

With just under 17 minutes remaining, Prince converted an old-fashioned 3-point play on a reverse layup and sent a lob to Ventress on the next possession, who also tallied a 3-point play to run out to a 48-26 lead.

On the following possession, Ventress struck again, this time from long range before Medley would also connect from downtown for TCU’s largest lead at 54-28 at the 13:39 mark.

The Frogs shot 47 percent (27-of-57) from the field, including a 54-percent clip in the second half, while limiting Texas Tech to a 39-percent (16-of-41) effort.

TCU scored 20 points off 16 Tech turnovers while committing a season-low seven miscues.

The Frogs will take their winning streak back on the road against Kansas at 7 p.m., on Wednesday in Lawrence.
