TCU’s Abron Granted NCAA Transfer Waiver

FORT WORTH—The NCAA has informed TCU that sophomore forward Devonta Abron has been granted a waiver and will be eligible to compete for the Horned Frogs men’s basketball team this fall. He will not be required to sit out one season per the NCAA’s standard bylaws regarding undergraduate transfers.

Abron transferred to TCU this past summer after playing last season as a true freshman for Arkansas. A 6-8, 255-pound product of Dallas’ Seagoville High School, Abron appeared in all 32 games for the Razorbacks as a freshman, making 22 starts for a squad that posted an 18-14 overall record. He scored 5.7 points per game while leading AU in rebounding average at 4.2 boards in just over 16 minutes per contest.

“I am pleased we were able to work with the NCAA to get a resolution in regards to Devonta’s status,” said TCU head coach Trent Johnson. “We are excited that he will be on the floor for us in our first season as a member of the Big 12 Conference.”
