COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – TCU senior guard J.R. Cadot has been named Mountain West Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, the leagueoffice announced Monday. The honor marks the first career MW award for Cadotand the second of the season for the Horned Frogs.

A native of Nassau, Bahamas, Cadot helped TCU post a perfect 2-0 record last week featuring a Wednesday road win at Air Force and Saturday home victory over No. 18 New Mexico. He lled the Horned Frogs in scoring and rebounding both contests for his fifth and sixth double-doubles of the season, while he averaged team highs of 15.5 points, 11.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals . Cadot shot 55.0 percent (11-of-20) from the field overall for the week, while he also recorded an impressive average of 7.0 offensive boards during the two wins.

Cadot started the week off with a solid performance, totaling a game-high 16 points while matching his career best with 13 rebounds Wednesday at Air Force to help TCU snap a 15-game conference road losing streak. Eight of his boards came on the offensive glass to fuel the Frogs to a season-high 22 offensive rebounds, while he also added three steals.

Cadot followed up the performance by leading TCU to another impressive victory Saturday over No. 18 New Mexico. He totaled a game-high 15 points and added 10 rebounds and two steals. The 6-5 guard again was a force on the offensive glass, pulling down six offensive boards whilehelping TCU drop a second-straight top-20 opponent for the first time in program history.

The honor adds to an impressive senior season resume for Cadot that already rates as his best in two years on campus. Cadot’s selection marks the second such weekly honor for TCU this season, as sophomore forward Amric Fields was MW Player of the Week back onJan. 9. This season is the first time in seven years as a MW league member that TCU has had two players selected for the player of the week honor in the same season. In all, six Frogs have garnered recognition during the program’s stint in the conference.
