Texas Motor Speedway Searches For National Anthem Performers

FORT WORTH, Texas (February 20, 2012) – Texas Motor Speedway is offering the national spotlight to aspiring singers with its National Anthem Hometown Hero contest. LKCM Radio Group LP and Texas Motor Speedway will be partnering on this competition for the fourth year to identify musical talent to perform the National Anthem during pre-race activities prior to April’s O’Reilly Auto Parts 300 NASCAR Nationwide Series race and June’s WinStar World Casino 400 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race.

LKCM Radio Group LP will host a minimum of 11 weekend auditions beginning Feb. 25 and continuing through March 17 at various locations across North Texas and southern Oklahoma. One contestant from each of the qualifying events will advance to the finals where their rendition of the National Anthem will be videotaped and posted to www.texasmotorspeedway.com for fan voting that will run from March 26 – April 1. The top vote-getter will perform the National Anthem for the O’Reilly Auto Parts 300 on Friday, April 13, while the runner-up will perform during the WinStar World Casino 400 on Friday, June 8.

“Some of the best National Anthem singers we’ve had at Texas Motor Speedway have come through this opportunity,” Texas Motor Speedway President Eddie Gossage said. “The opportunity to have the spotlight for a national TV audience and sing at one of Texas’ largest sporting events is a performer’s dream.”

The National Anthem Hometown Hero winners also will receive VIP treatment with the grand-prize winner receiving four Victory Lane Club suite tickets to the O’Reilly Auto Parts 300, coupled with four grandstand tickets to the Samsung Mobile 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race on Saturday, April 14, WinStar World Casino 400 and Firestone 550 IZOD IndyCar Series race on Saturday, June 9.

The runner-up will receive four Victory Lane Club suite tickets to the WinStar World Casino 400, along with four grandstand tickets to the Samsung Mobile 500, O’Reilly Auto Parts 300 and Firestone 550.

All finalists will receive a pair of tickets to the O’Reilly Auto Parts 300, Samsung Mobile 500, WinStar World Casino 400 and Firestone 550.
