Texas Rangers release spring schedule

The Texas Rangers are scheduled to play 33 spring training games in 2011, including 31 Cactus League contests. The club released its complete spring training schedule and pricing on Wednesday.

Texas’ 31-game Arizona schedule features 16 contests at Surprise Stadium/Billy Parker Field. The Rangers will be the home team for 15 of those games and will be the visiting club on Sunday, March 20 against the Kansas City Royals, who share the Surprise complex with Texas. Those two teams will play three times overall in Surprise in 2011, opening the spring schedule with consecutive games on Sunday, February 27 and Monday, February 28, the latter date being the Surprise Sundancers Charity Game.

In addition, the Rangers will host the other 13 Cactus League teams once each: Arizona Diamondbacks, Chicago Cubs, Chicago White Sox, Cincinnati Reds, Cleveland Indians, Colorado Rockies, Los Angeles Angels, Los Angeles Dodgers, Milwaukee Brewers, Oakland A’s, San Diego Padres, San Francisco Giants, and Seattle Mariners.

Texas will play 6:05 p.m. MT games in Surprise with Colorado on Wednesday, March 16 and versus San Diego on Thursday, March 24. All other Rangers games in Surprise will be 1:05 p.m. MT starts.

The Rangers will close the 2011 spring training slate with exhibition games in the home parks of the team’s two new minor league affiliates. Texas will play Coastal Carolina University at BB&T Coastal Field, home of the class A Myrtle Beach Pelicans, on Tuesday, March 29 at 6:35 p.m. EDT. The club’s spring finale will be on Wednesday, March 30 at 6:30 p.m. CDT versus the class AAA Round Rock Express at the Dell Diamond in Round Rock. Texas begins defense of its A.L. championship on Friday, April 1 versus the Boston Red Sox at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington.

2011 individual ticket prices for Texas Rangers games at Surprise Stadium: Lower Dugout–$24.00; Upper Dugout–$21.00; Infield–$18.00; Plaza–$14.00; and Lawn–$7.00. Full season, 7-Game ticket packages, and Sunday 5-Game packages are also available as well as group ticket packages. Parking is free to all games at Surprise Stadium.
