On March 24, Village Idiots won the Central Motorcycle Roadracing Association’s (CMRA) 6-Hour Endurance race at Texas World Speedway in College Station, Texas to take the overall championship points lead after Round Two of the nine event series. John Orchard, Chris Headley, Blake Cochran and Brandon Cleland rode a flawless race from flag to flag aboard the RaceworX-sponsored Yamaha YZF-R6 equipped with a 7-gallon fuel tank and Dunlop GP N-Tec tires for 160 laps around the 2.9 mile road course in route to a five lap margin of victory over the field.

A red flag stopped the action at the four hour mark with the Village Idiots leading by four laps. The final two overall podium spots remained up for grabs between the top three A Superbike teams of the day, each deadlocked at lap 127. With just 50 minutes remaining when green flag racing resumed, and each of the A Superbike teams requiring a final pit stop for rider and fuel to get to the checkered flag, it was an endurance sprint to the finish. When the checkered flag dropped, all three teams remained on the same lap, 155, but second overall podium honors went to NORDCO Racing (Todd Larson, Brandon Young, Michael Rochester), while former CMRA Endurance Championship #1 plate holder, Desert Rats Racing (Derek Thomas, Stephen Guynes, Rick Hogge) brought home third place overall in their return to the CMRA Endurance Series.

212Decals.com (Dirk Anderson, William Guthrie, Brandt Dillon, Landon Talley, Allan Campbell) led the field at the restart, but finished just off the overall podium in fourth overall with a costly pit stop.

Lone Star Track Days (Mark Niemi, Andy Galindo, Eric Williams), current number 3 plate holder, rounded

out the top five overall on the day with 152 laps at the checkered flag.

Normal front runner and current CMRA Endurance Series Number 1 plate holder, Team SCRaceCenter.com KTM Racing (Ty Howard, Bryan West, Ryan Andrews, Shea Fouchek, Jeremy Louder) led early in the race but finished nine laps behind the leaders in sixth overall after enduring a number of pit stop and mechanical issues throughout the race.

In the Formula 2 class, Hellcat Racing (Aaron Gore, Tad Murley, Ulug Bayramoglu, David Tiede, Blaine Johnson) brought home the class win with a 7th overall finish at 145 laps, a full 5 laps in front of their closest class challenger, Team EDS (Michael Humphries, Alan Phillips, Shane Zelm, Scott Eichhorn, Darrell Ricks) who recorded 140 laps at the checkered flag.

The CMRA returns to action at April 14-15 at Eagles Canyon Raceway in Decatur, Texas for round three of the CMRA Endurance series. Check out www.cmraracing.com for more information.
