The Central Motorcycle Roadracing Association (CMRA) held its seventh round of Big Bike Endurance and Mini Sprint grids and sixth round of Mini Endurance, bringing 8 hours of racing action to both the 1.7-mile and 1.3-mile tracks at MotorSport Ranch this past Saturday, August 25, in Cresson, Texas. Temperatures in the 70’s, pouring rain with gusting winds made for difficult racing conditions. Big Bike Open Practice ran on the 1.7-mile course while the Mini sprints and 4-Hour Mini Endurance ran simultaneously on the 1.3-mile short course. This is the second time this season that the CMRA has utilized the short course for a race weekend.

The 4-Hour Mini Endurance had a combined grid of 18 teams, with the classes of Formula 4, Formula 5, Formula 6, and Formula 7 Endurance. The green flag dropped on full wet conditions on a slick track, but about an hour and a half later, the rain let off, and the wind started to dry the track. The Davis Rod and Cycle team, consisting of Jesse Davis, Ryan Andrews, and Brandon Altmeyer, riding a Kawasaki EX250, took an early lead, and would go on to set the fastest lap of the race, running a 1:12.075 on lap 116 of the race. Their motor seized two laps later, and the Greenlawn Racing team of Rich Wu, Michael Thurber, Ron Mears and Tristan Klinetrobe, also on a Kawasaki EX250 would overtake the lead, holding on to take both the win in Formula 4 and the overall endurance win. The RyderHard Racing team; Ken Ryder, Shawn Diamond, and Jay Newton on a Kawasaki EX250 took second in both Formula 4 and

the overall. Rounding out the top three overall was the Fastline Minis team of Peter Shaddock, Sid Shaddock, Kris Lillegard, and Matt Tingsanchali who also took third in Formula 4 with a Kawasaki EX250.

The 4-Hour Big Bike Endurance had a combined grid of 23 teams, with classes A Superbike, C Superbike, Fastline Motorcycle School Formula 2, and Modern Classic Endurance. The earlier rain left the track cool, damp, and slick, but the lap times remained fast. The NORDCO Racing team of Todd Larson, Brandon Young, Michael Rochester on a Yamaha YZF-R1 took the early lead, holding off the points leader teams of Team SCRaceCenter.com KTM Racing and Village Idiots. The track continued to dry out as the race went on, but remained cool, leaving the racing conditions challenging. The Village Idiots team; John Orchard, Chris Headley, and Blake Cochran on a Yamaha YZF-R6, seized the opportunity to take over the lead, with the 212Decals.com team of Dirk Anderson, William Guthrie, Brandt Dillon, Landon Talley, and Allan Campbell on a Suzuki GSX-R1000 pulling into second. NORDCO Racing wasn’t giving up, and traded places with the 212Decals.com team until a tip over coming off a slick corner would cost them a pit stop to re-tech and push them back into third place. As the afternoon progressed, the wind picked up, and the track continued to dry out. When the checkers dropped at 6:30 pm, the Village Idiots would take the win in C Superbike and the overall win, 212Decals.com would take the win in A Superbike and second overall. NORDCO Racing would take second in A Superbike and third overall.
