Wednesday’s Rangers-A’s Game Postponed by Rain

Wednesday’s Texas Rangers-Oakland A’s game has been postponed due to rain. With a forecast of heavy rain continuing for the next few hours, the game was called at 2:21 p.m. The rain delay lasted 2:14 after time was called at 4:35 p.m. in the middle of the fourth inning with the Rangers holding a 7-0 lead.

The game will be made up and replayed in its entirety on a date to be determined when Oakland returns to Rangers Ballpark in Arlington later in the season.

Fans holding tickets for today’s game (dated Wednesday, May 11, 2011) can exchange them for any home game the rest of the season, subject to availability.

Today marks the first time that a game has been postponed at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington since September 11, 2009 vs. Seattle.

Today marks the first time that Rangers have played in a game that went at least 3.0 innings and was postponed before becoming an official game since May 24, 2002 at Kansas City. Texas had a 3-1 lead in the top of the 4th inning when play was called and the contest eventually postponed. Rafael Palmeiro’s 1500th career RBI was erased in that game.

The Rangers continue this homestand with a three game series against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim that begins on Friday, May 13 at 7:05 p.m.
