Wild Inning Dooms Rangers
|{fshare id=3018}
The Texas Rangers gave up 8 runs in the 4th inning on the way to an 11-3 loss to the Los Angeles Angles.
Starting pitcher Ryan Dempster took a 3-1 lead into the bottom of the 4th when 4 of the 5 batters he faced got on base, with 2 scoring. Changing pitchers twice did not help the Rangers, as 7 more batters came to the plate before the inning was over. In the inning, the Rangers allowed 5 hits, 3 walks, 1 hit batter, a wild pitch, and a throwing error.
In the game, Texas would use 7 different pitchers and only generate 2 strikeouts.
At the plate, the Rangers could only muster 7 hits, with Mike Napoli and Ian Kinsler hitting home runs in the 3rd inning to account for all the Ranger runs.
Texas is able to hold on to their 3-game lead in the AL West as a result of the A’s loss to Detroit. The Angels pull within 6 1/2 games of the Rangers.
Texas will stay in Los Angeles to face the Angels again tonight at 9:05pm. Derek Holland will be on the mound for the Rangers to face former teammate C.J. Wilson.
