Wilson Shines But Rangers Lose

Texas Rangers number 1 pitcher went a complete game, giving up just 2 hits while striking out 8.  Wilson did not allow an earned run.  Wilson did get credited for the loss.

That’s right, even with a stellar effort by Wilson, the Rangers lost 1-0 to the L.A. Angels.  The only run came afte Wilson put a runner on base after hitting him in the foot, followed by outfielder Endy Chavez dropping a fly ball.  Wilson took the blame, saying, “I hit a guy with an 0-2 slider.  I’m not happy with that. That was the biggest problem. Even if he makes the error, if I don’t hit a guy, there’s nobody on base and we get out of that inning. That was the turning point of the game.”    Likewise, Chavez put the loss on his shoulders, “I just missed the ball.  Nothing … I just missed it. No excuses.”

It was Wilson’s first loss since May 20.

The Rangers outhit the Angels 8-2, but left 11 on base.  3 of the hits came from Elvis Andrus.

Texas leaves L.A. with a 3 game lead over the Angels in the AL West.  They open a homestand against Toronto on Friday night.
