Rangers battered by weather, White Sox

The Texas Rangers suffered through a 3-hour rain delay only to lose to the Chicago White Sox 8-6.  After 20 consecutive scoreless innings, a Ranger pitcher finally gave up a run with the first of 3 home runs by White Sox outfielder Carlos Quentin.

Starter Derek Holland could only pitch 4 innings before the rain delay ended his night, he gave up 4 runs off of 2 Quentin homers.  The Rangers tied the game at 4 in the bottom of the 5th.  Chicago would retake the lead in the top of the 6th with a home run off of Brett Tomko.

Josh Hamilton went 3 for 5 at the plate, however, it was his baserunning that got attention.  In just his 2nd game back from the disabled list, after injuring himself during a head-first slide in April, Hamilton performed 3 more head-first slides, including one to first base.

Texas had a good night at the plate, getting 12 hits.  Ian Kinsler and Mitch Moreland each went 2 for 3.

The Rangers and White Sox will play again this afternoon, less than 12 hours after completing this one.  First pitch is set for 1:05 pm at the Ballpark in Arlington.
