Training Camp Needs

Irving, Texas – The Dallas Cowboys have finished OTA’s and mini-camps, now it is time for the real work to be done. Training camp is just around the corner. What do the ‘Boys need to accomplish in San Antonio?

First, the Cowboys need to establish teamwork, something they haven’t had in many years. It didn’t just go away because of T.O. Long before he arrived, the players were divided – remember the defense complaining that the offense couldn’t score? It just got worse with #81, he made it personal. Maybe with some of the ego’s out of the locker room, this team can mesh.

Next, the Cowboys need to develop some toughness.  Jason Whitten can provide the inspiration.   Not since Emmitt Smith have they had a running back who could be counted on to play a whole game.  Marion Barber can dish out the punishment, but he has yet to show he can take much of it.

Basic fundamentals of the game.  Third and two is not the time to false start or get a holding call. Please remember that, Offensive Line. Likewise, Defense, don’t line up on the wrong side of the ball. The Cowboys have got to cut down on the penalties and mental mistakes, especially at critical times.

Finally, the Cowboys need to regain a belief in themselves.  Ending the season the way they did 3 years in a row has got to wear on them.  They need to have confidence that they can close out games, the season, and playoffs.  Maybe if they believe it, we can too.
