No. 33 Arizona Tennis Drops No. 61 Mean Green, 6-1

TUCSON, Ariz. – No. 61 North Texas tennis fell to the No. 33 Arizona Wildcats, 6-1 on Friday afternoon at the LaNelle Robson Tennis Center.
The Wildcats (4-2) took a strangle hold of the match early on, winning all three doubles matches and the first four singles matches en route to a match clinching 5-0 lead.
Junior Ilona Serchenko then captured the lone Mean Green (5-4) victory at the No. 6 singles slot, taking down Arizona’s Debora Castany 6-4, 7-5.
Freshman Kseniya Bardabush, who won her only two matches at the No. 1 singles spot coming in, narrowly missed forcing a decisive third set in her match against Lacey Smith, falling 6-2, 7-6 (5).
Nadia Lee, the Sun Belt Conference player of the week for the week of Feb. 8, also forced a tiebreaker on her opponent, No. 64 Natasha Marks, dropping her match 7-6 (2), 6-2.
The No. 61 Mean Green will be back in action on Sunday when it takes on No. 50 Cal Poly at 9:30 a.m. PST at the LaNelle Robson Tennis Center on the campus of the University of Arizona.
