Jamie Schaafsma led the way for the Americans scoring two goals, while adding an assist. Chris Crane scored for the third straight game adding his 4th of the postseason, which turned out to be the game winner for the Americans. Riley Gill made 19 saves to pick up his 4th win in the series.

“This was a great team win,” said Allen Americans defenseman Aaron Gens. “We came out hard in the third period and capitalized on a couple big opportunities to get the win. Ontario is a really good team and the challenge will be even tougher this round.”

The Americans are playing in the Western Conference Finals for the third straight season, and for the first time as a member of the ECHL. Allen moves on to meet the Ontario Reign, who eliminated Utah in five games. The Americans played a two-game set against the Reign in February splitting the two games in Southern California.

The Americans will have home-ice advantage for the Western Conference Finals, finishing with the best regular season record in the west, and just a point behind Toledo for the overall best record in the ECHL. Game 1 will be on Sunday, May 17th at 4:05 pm. Game 2 is Monday, May 18th at 7:05 pm.
