Allen, Texas – The Allen Americans evened their best of seven series with the Rapid City Rush on Saturday night, after an 8-1 win at Allen Event Center.

The Americans went an incredible 5 for 9 on the power play, scoring two in the first period, two in the second and two in the third. Greger Hanson had two of the power plays for Allen, putting together a five point night with two goals and three assists. Konrad Abeltshauser, Spencer Asuchak and Chad Costello also scored with the man advantage.

“We owed this to our fans,” said Americans forward Greger Hanson, after his big five point game. “We let them down last night. We made it a point to start strong and finish strong. It was a complete win all around.”

The Americans outshot the Rapid City Rush 54-23. It was the second time this postseason the Americans have reached 50 or more shots. The Rush’s lone goal game in the late in the first scoring on a 5-on-3 power play to cut the lead to 2-1, however that would be the closest they would get all night.

Three players for the Americans had eight shots on goal; Gary Steffes, Chad Costello and Konrad Abeltshauser. Tyler Ludwig, who had four assists for the Americans, had seven shots on net.

“Our goaltender was great tonight,” said Americans forward Ian Schultz, who was voted the number one star of the game. “Riley made the big stops when he had to and the guys played solid in front of him. This was a great bounce back win for us.”

The series now shifts to Rapid City for Games 3, 4 and 5. Game 3 is next Thursday night, with games 4 & 5 on Friday and Saturday, respectively. The last post-season win in Rapid came in Game 1 of the 2010 CHL Finals, a series the Americans would go on to lose four games to two.
