Allen Americans Rout Brampton

Allen, Texas – The Allen Americans exploded for nine goals in a 9-2 win over the Brampton Beast on Friday night at Allen Event Center to extend their winning streak to four games.

The Americans scored four times in the opening period with goals from Austin Smith, Jack Combs, Chad Costello and Greger Hanson to take 4-1 lead after 20 minutes of play. The Americans held a 13-10 lead in shots after one period.

Trevor Cann came in to replace Grant Rollheiser to start the second period for Brampton. Greger Hanson opened the scoring for the Americans in the second period with his second of the night, a shorthanded goal, and his 7th of the season to give Allen a 5-1 lead at 8:09 of the second frame. Chad Costello added his second of the night, two and a half minutes, later to make it 6-1 Allen. Justin Baker would add one more before the period ended to make it 7-1 after 40 minutes of play, with Allen holding a 26-21 advantage in shots.

The Americans added two more in the final period, as Chad Costello netted the hat trick for his 5th of the season. Gary Steffes closed the scoring for Allen to make it a 9-2 game, and the Americans cruised to their 4th straight win and a 7-3-0-0 record in the ECHL Central Division.

The three stars of the game selected by Mike Stern of Inside Hockey, are as follows; #3 Justin Baker, #2 Gregor Hanson, and #1 Chad Costello.
