Allen Beats St. Charles

Allen, Texas — The Allen Americans and the St. Charles Chill matched up for the second time in three days, on Sunday afternoon at the Allen Event Center. The physical matchup saw the Americans come away with a 3-1 win and remain undefeated against the Chill this season.

St. Charles jumped to an early lead at the 6:21 mark of the first period, when Martin Hlinka, lit the lamp, assisted by Charles Lachance, and Nick Schneider. Allen forward Darryl Bootland, tied the game at 1-1 at the 18:18 mark of the frame when he slid the puck past Chill goalie Linus Lundin. The goal, his second in as many nights was assisted by Greger Hanson, and Daniel Tetrault and was Bootlands 14th of the season. Allen and St. Charles headed into the first intermission tied 1-1 and tied 10-10 in shots on goal.

Allen netted the lone goal of the second period when Tyler Ludwig blasted the puck in the net on the power play at the 14:51 mark of the middle frame. Alex Lavoie picked up the lone assist while Tyler Ludwig extended his point streak to 14 games. Allen held onto a 2-1 lead for the remainder of the period while holding an 11-10 edge in shots.

Tyler Ludwig found the back of the net for the second time in the game, also on the power play at the 11:55 mark of the third period, his 12th of the season, with the assist going to Spencer Asuchak and Kale Kerbashian. The goal would be the only goal scored in the third and gave Allen a 3-1 win over the St. Charles Chill. The Americans outshot the Chill 21-8 in the period, and 42-28 for the game.

With the win, Allen improves to 4-0 over St. Charles and 25-10-4 on the season while St. Charles falls to 9-27-5.

The Americans face the Wichita Thunder on back to back nights this weekend, starting on Friday night in Wichita.
