Allen Opens Season With Win Over Guyer

The headline game for the Tom Landry Classic featured a clash of two defending state champions.  The Allen Eagles, defending 5A Champions, faced the defending 4A Champion Denton Guyer Wildcats, who moved up to join Allen in the new 6A classification.

Guyer put up a good fight, racking up 576 yards of offense.  But it was not enough, as Allen gained 664 yards en route to a 55-41 win.

Allen quarterback Kyler Murray accounted for 6 touchdowns to lead the Eagles to their 28th straight victory.

Guyer quarterback Shawn Robinson threw for 238 yards and rushed for another 170, but committed 2 costly fumbles on the team’s first 2 possesions which put the Wildcats in an early deficit.
