Americans Win Over St. Charles

Allen, Texas — The Allen Americans faced off against the St. Charles Chill for the first time at the Allen Event Center on Friday night. Allen held a commanding lead over St. Charles and won 5-2.

The Americans jumped to an early 1-0 lead when Spencer Asuchak lit lamp 1:53 into the first period. The goal, assisted by Trevor Ludwig and Kale Kerbashian, was Asuchak’s second goal in as many games. Alex Lavoie found the back of the next 58 seconds later to give Allen a 2-0 lead over the Chill. The goal, his 20th of the season, was assisted by Ross Roueau and Jamie Schaafsma. Allen forward Darryl Bootland added to the lead at the 12:16 mark of the first frame, assisted by Spencer Asuchak and Kale Kerbashian.

St. Charles answered back at the 18:28 mark of the period, when Kyle O’Kane slid the puck past American goalie, Bryan Pitton. O’Kane’s goal, his team-high 16th of the season, was assisted by Sean Muncy and Dan Weiss. Allen headed into the first intermission with a 3-1 lead over the Chill and held a 11-10 edge on shots.

Allen struck again early in the second period when Spencer Asuchak fired the puck past Chil goalie Linus Lundin during a penalty shot only 1:32 into the frame. St. Charles struck back at the 16:41 mark of the frame when Frank Littlejohn netted his first of the season, assisted by Martin Hlinka, cutting Allen’s lead to 4-2. Heading into the second intermission, Allen continued to hold an edge on shots with 14-9 and lead the Chill 4-2.

The Americans added to the lead midway through the third

period, solidifying a 5-2 win. Jonathan Lessard lit the lamp at the 12:05 mark assisted by Daniel Tetrault and Alex Lavoie. Allen held a dominating edge on shots in the frame with 10-3 and 35-22 on the game.

The win marks the 12th straight game the Americans have picked up a point, with their last regulation loss occurring on December 26th against Tulsa. Allen improves to 24-10-4 on the season and the Chill fall to 9-26-5.

The Americans will face the Chill again on Sunday at the Allen Event Center with the puck drop scheduled for 4:05.
