Brooks Koepka moves to No. 1 with The CJ Cup at Nine Bridges Win

Brooks Koepka moved past Dustin Johnson to the top spot in the world golf rankings with a final round 64 that gave him the win at the CJ Cup at Nine Bridges in South Korea.

Becoming the No. 1 player in the world is the latest in an eventful 2018 for Koepka that began with him missing the Masters due to injury and saw him go on to defend his title at the U.S. Open and win the PGA Championship en route to winning the PGA Tour Player of the Year.

“To be No. 1 is something I’ve dreamed of as a kid,” Koepka said. “I don’t think this one is going to sink in.”

“Colonial I kind of found something, that was kind of like my A-ha moment,”Koepka continued. “I played really well and Rosey (Justin Rose) just played that much better, but I felt leaving that event that I was very close to peaking and very close to doing exactly what I wanted to do.”

This was Koepka’s 12th worldwide victory including his four European Tour wins.

DFW resident Ryan Palmer birdied his last seven holes to shoot a course-record 62 and finish in a tie for third place.

Next up on the PGA Tour is the World Golf Championships-HSBC Champions in Shanghai.
