Cowboys Lose Again

The Dallas Cowboys lost in Atlanta to the Falcons by a score of 19-13.  The Falcons reach the midpoint of the season with an unbeaten record, while the Cowboys find themselves 2 games below .500.

Dallas was unable to stop the Falcons in the 4th quarter, as Atlanta scored on 3 straight drives to win the game.

Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo completed 25 of 35 passes for 321 yards and a touchdown.  Miles Austin and Jason Witten each caught 7 passes to lead the Dallas receivers.  Witten became the Cowboys’ all-time leading receiver, passing Hall of Famer Michael Irvin on the club’s list.  Witten has 754 career receptions.

The Dallas running game was again nowhere to be found.  Felix Jones and Lance Dunbar combined for just 65 yards on the ground.

Atlanta quarterback, Matt Ryan, like so many playing against the Cowboys, set a season-high mark for passing yards with 342.  Michael Turner gained 102 rushing yards on 20 carries for the Falcons.

The Cowboys still had a chance to win the game as time expired.  With no timeouts and only 17 seconds left, Romo threw 3 short passes.  The final pass was to Felix Jones, who inexplicably went down without a fight at the Atlanta 22.  It is the 3rd time this season that Cowboys players have let time expire without finding a way to keep the play alive – all resulting in losses.

Dallas travels to Philadelphia next for a divisional game with the Eagles.
