MIAMI — Backup quarterback Matt Moore rallied Miami two fourth-quarter touchdowns and the Dolphins edged the Dallas Cowboys 25-19 on Saturday night.

Running back Orleans Darkwa capped a 12-play, 55-yard drive by plowing into the end zone for the decisive score with 1:45 left in the game.

Moore, who went 12-for-19 for 173 yards and one touchdown, hooked up with Harold Hoskins at the 5:40 mark of the fourth quarter for a 27 yard touchdown.

Dallas quarterback Tony Romo played the first half and was sacked three times. Coming off surgery to repair his back, Romo completed 10 of 18 passes for 87 yards.

“It was good to see Tony out there playing,” Dallas coach Jason Garrett said at halftime. “He got knocked around a little bit, and that could be good and bad. It’s good to have him feel the physical part of the game.”

Miami starting quarterback Ryan Tannehill completed 13 of 21 passes for 119 yards as he played into the third quarter before giving way to Moore.

Dallas rookie Tyler Patmon’s nine-yard interception return for a touchdown midway through the fourth quarter put Dallas up 20-11. But there was plenty of time left for Moore’s heroics.

Knowshon Moreno, who played with the Denver Broncos last season, made his preseason debut for the Dolphins. The first time he touched the ball he ran for 19 yards. He finished with 64 yards on 10 carries.
