Crane Leads At Byron Nelson

First round play completed after being suspended due to darkness the night before. Ben Crane leads by one-stroke over Brooks Koepka, Jordan Spieth, Sergio Garcia and Bud Cauley with a 65-63 round. Crane’s 128 total equals the best and the low first 36-hole score at the AT&T Bryon Nelson.

Crane is making his 13th start at the AT&T Byron Nelson and has made 10 cuts. His best finish at the tournament was second place in 2002. His only other top-10 finish at the AT&T Byron Nelson came in 2010 (T7).

Spieth posted his lowest 36-hole opening score on the PGA TOUR, topping his 36-hole total of 130 at the 2015 Masters Tournament and 2016 Hyundai Tournament of Champions, both of which he ultimately won. This is the 22-year-old’s sixth time to play the AT&T Byron Nelson. He made is PGA TOUR debut at the tournament in 2010 at the age of 16, where he finished in 16th place.

Daytona Beach, Florida resident Bud Cauley moved to T2 following a second round 5-under 65. This is Cauley’s second start at the AT&T Byron Nelson (first in 2014).

West Palm Beach, Florida native Brooks Koepka made his third start at the AT&T Byron Nelson and, like Spieth, posted his lowest opening 36-hole score on the PGA TOUR.

Castellon, Spain’s Garcia co-leads the second round with a 4-under 66. Garcia won the AT&T Byron Nelson in 2004. This is Garcia’s first appearance at the tournament since 2011, where he finished T20.
