Wyndham Clark Wins The CJ Cup Byron Nelson

Wyndham Clark fired an 11-under 60 to win The CJ Cup Byron Nelson, three shots clear of the field at TPC Craig Ranch. Clark tied Si Woo Kim’s course record that he set on Friday at the newly renovated course that is located 30 miles north of downtown Dallas.

“It was pretty amazing. Obviously I made a birdie on 14, and I look and Si Woo’s right there on my heels. Then I birdied 15, and I just knew I had to keep birdieing because I knew Si Woo was probably going to do the same thing, or even Scottie,” Clark said. “I felt pretty comfortable, but I knew I had to put the pedal to the metal and keep making birdies. I made more than I thought I was going to make, that’s for sure.”

The 2023 U.S. Open captured his fourth PGA Tour victory with the victory in McKinney.

Kim began the day with a two-shot lead over Clark and defending champion Scottie Scheffler and would go on to shoot 65, and finish 27-under par for a solo second.

“I think it’s pretty much best play golf I’ve ever had,” Kim said. “I’m a little frustrated, but nothing I can do. Wyndham played so good. Congrats to Wyndham.”

Scheffler followed up his victory at last year’s Byron Nelson with a third place finish after a final round 65 put him at 25-under for the week.

“A golf course like this, you’ve got to make a ton of birdies,” Scheffler said. “You’ve got to either hit it pretty amazing and hole a few putts or hit it good and hole a bunch of putts. I hit it decent to good and I holed a few putts. I didn’t hole a bunch of putts or hit it incredible. Overall, I felt like I was close this week.”

19-year old Blades Brown earned special temporary membership on the PGA Tour with his T14 finish, meaning he can get unlimited sponsor exemptions for the rest of the PGA Tour season.

“I know my route to the PGA Tour is a very uncommon route,” Brown said. “It’s mainly because of my parents. They’ve been my biggest supporters. They’ve sacrificed so much, especially my dad. He’s been — I think he’s missed about two events in my entire life, and he believed in me whenever I didn’t believe in myself. It’s been pretty cool, and I’m really happy with the decision I made to turn pro.”
