Dallas Stars Win Slugfest

The Dallas Stars defeated the Colorado Avalanche 7-6 on Saturday night at the American Airlines Center.  The 13-points scored are the most in a game since the team moved to Dallas in 1993.   With the win, the Stars improve to 6-1 at home, 9-3 overall.  

After falling behind 2-0 in the 1st period, Dallas scores 4 straight goals in the 2nd.  Loui Eriksson and Sheldon Souray each scored power-play goals, followed by a wrist shot from Vernon Fiddler and another power-play goal by Alex Goligoski.  Souray’s goal was the 100th of his career.  The period ended in a tie after Colorado scores 2 late goals.

The teams traded another 2 goals in the third period to end regulation tied at 6.  Eric Nystrom and Stephane Robidas were the Stars scorers.

Loui Eriksson scores the winning goal for Dallas in the overtime period.

Kari Lehtonen stopped 34 of 40 shots on goal.

The Stars begin a 4-game road trip Sunday in Carolina.
