FC Dallas Defeat Seattle

Midfielders Mauro Diaz and Michael Barrios scored goals to lead FC Dallas to a 2-0 victory over the Seattle Sounders FC on Saturday night in a Major League Soccer game at CenturyLink Field in Seattle.

FC Dallas (7-4-2) wasted little time gaining an early advantage. Diaz scored on a penalty kick from the top left corner in the third minute for a 1-0 lead.

Seattle (4-5-1) had several opportunities to pull even when defender Joevin Jones and forward Jordan Morris put shots on goal, but FC Dallas goalkeeper Chris Seitz stopped both attempts.

FC Dallas could have padded its lead in the 36th minute, but Walker Zimmerman’s header from the center of the box strayed left.

Seattle had a chance to tie the score on a shot by forward Clint Dempsey in the 50th minute, but Seitz made the stop in the bottom right corner.

FC Dallas added to its lead in the 80th minute when Barrios’ shot from right of the goal found the bottom left corner of the net.

Seitz and Seattle goalkeeper Stefan Frei each finished with two saves.

Both teams attempted seven shots. FC Dallas put four shots on goal and the Sounders had three.
