FC Dallas Draws With Houston

The visiting Houston Dynamo and FC Dallas played to a 1-1 draw following a lengthy weather delay Thursday night at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas.

The match began in a heavy rainstorm, but it was stopped after four minutes due to extremely wet field conditions. Play resumed following a delay of 1 hour, 53 minutes.

FC Dallas (8-4-4) went up 1-0 when Ryan Hollingshead scored from close range on an assist by Fabian Castillo in the 23rd minute. Houston (3-7-4) evened the score in the 51st minute when Ricardo Clark fired from outside the box and found the top right corner.

Both teams had opportunities to net the go-ahead goal, but Houston goalkeeper Tyler Deric and FC Dallas goalkeeper Chris Seitz each came up with big saves.

The match was played as part of the Texas Derby, an annual series between the two clubs to determine the best team in the state each season. Houston beat FC Dallas 5-0 on March 12. They will conclude the series Aug. 27.

The winner of the series will claim El Capitan, a replica 18th century mountain howitzer cannon. FC Dallas has won the series each of the last three years.
