FC Dallas Lose At Vancouver

VANCOUVER, Canada – FC Dallas saw their six-match unbeaten streak come to an end at BC Place in Vancouver as Oscar Pareja’s side fell 3-0 to Western Conference rival Vancouver Whitecaps FC.

FC Dallas nearly opened the scoring in the 10th minute as a recycled ball in from Walker Zimmerman found Fabian Castillo onside and with only the ‘keeper to beat, but his chip was just over the net.

Red-hot forward Maxi Urruti put FCD’s first shot on goal if the match in the 19th minute as he spectacularly volleyed a bouncing ball from outside the box forcing David Ousted into a one-handed save.

Vancouver opened the scoring in the 35th minute with their first goal in three matches. Winger Kekuta Manneh found space down the left side and sent in a cross that was punched by goalkeeper Chris Seitz into defender Maynor Figueroa. The ball caromed into the back of the net for FCD’s second own goal this season.

FC Dallas nearly struck back in quick succession as a counter attack saw Michael Barrios play a perfect through-ball into a streaking Castillo, but much like his earlier opportunity, the finish was

put just over the bar and FC Dallas entered the halftime break with a 1-0 deficit.

The first chance of the second half fell to Vancouver as Cristian Techera received a ball at the top of the box and deked two FC Dallas defenders. His final touch failed him, however, and Chris Seitz was able to scoop up the ball.

FC Dallas again forced Ousted into a fantastic save in the 50th minute as Urruti’s cross found Michael Barrios whose shot was spectacularly saved with a one-handed punch from the Danish goalkeeper.

Tesho Akindele nearly brought FC Dallas level in the 61st minute as he went on a run through the midfield and unleashed a curling shot from just outside the box forcing Ousted into his third save of the match.

The home side doubled their lead in the 63rd minute from a corner kick. The Whitecaps set piece was flicked through the box to outside back Jordan Harvey who slotted past Seitz to put the Whitecaps up 2-0.

Vancouver added another goal in the 77th minute as former FC Dallas forward Blas Perez, who had just entered the match, flicked a ball on to Manneh who slid his shot under the on-rushing Seitz to give Vancouver a 3-0 lead.

Still at the top of the MLS standings, FC Dallas(5-2-2, 17 points) returns to play on Friday night on the road at the New York Red Bulls while Vancouver(3-4-1, 10 points) hosts Sporting Kansas City on Wednesday night.
