TULSA, OKLA. – One night after ending the five-game slide, the Frisco RoughRiders were beaten up by the Tulsa Drillers 9-3 at ONEOK Field on Sunday night. The game wrapped up the road trip for the ‘Riders in which the team collected just one win in six games.

Making his second start for the ‘Riders, Jerad Eickhoff got off to a strong start. He retired the first six Drillers he faced and faced the minimum through the first three innings.

The Frisco (19-31, 58-62) offense had plenty of baserunners off of Tulsa starter Daniel Winkler. After a double play erased a leadoff walk in the second, Chih-Hsien Chiang gave the ‘Riders a run without the benefit of a baserunner. He blasted a solo home run to give the road team an early lead.

The second time through the order did not go near as well for Eickhoff. The Drillers (26-24, 60-58) scored three runs in the fourth inning. Kyle Parker tied it with an RBI single, and Dustin Garneau gave Tulsa its first lead with a two-run double to make it 3-1. Jayson Langfels and Parker added singletons with solo home runs in the fifth and sixth respectively to extend the lead to 5-1 when Eickhoff departed.

The Frisco right-hander went six innings and allowed five runs, all

earned, on seven hits and a walk. He struck out four.

Chiang hit a second home run, again off Winkler, in the seventh. It was another solo shot, this time to center field, cutting the deficit to 5-2.

It was the last time the ‘Riders would score off Winkler despite getting seven hits and drawing two walks off the starter in his 6.2 innings of work. The RoughRiders went 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position and left seven men aboard in the ballgame.

The Drillers widened the gap with four runs on four hits against Kyle McClellan in the seventh inning. Tyler Kuhn, Christhian Adames and Parker provided three consecutive RBI base knocks, the last of which made the score 9-2 Tulsa.

Teodoro Martinez got in on the mix in the ninth, hitting his 11th home run of the season, but the ‘Riders collected just the lone run in the frame and fell 9-3.

Eickhoff (0-1) suffered the loss, his first as a Double-A pitcher. Winkler (1-0), also making his second Texas League start earned his first win.

After an off-day on Monday, the ‘Riders return to Frisco for a six-game home stand on Tuesday, August 13 at 7:05 p.m. against the Cardinals at Dr Pepper Ballpark. Neil Ramirez (9-3, 3.61 ERA) makes his second start since activation from the disabled list. The Cardinals will send Seth Blair (3-9, 4.63 ERA) to the bump.
