The New York Giants defeated the New England Patriots 21-17 in Super Bowl 46.

Giants quarterback Eli Manning was named MVP after completing 30 of 40 passes for 296 yards and a touchdown.  Manning led the Giants on an 88 yard touchdown drive to push New York to the lead with 57 seconds left in the game.

The Giants ground attack was led by Ahmad Bradshaw, who rushed for 72 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries.  Brandon Jacobs had 9 carries for 37 yards.

Hakeem Nicks and Mario Manningham were Mannings primary targets on the day.  Nicks had 10 receptions for 109 yards, Manningham caught 5 for 73 yards.

New England quarterback tom Brady completed 27 of 41 passes for 276 yards and 2 touchdowns.  Brady was unable to move the Patriots down the field in the final minute of the game after the Giants took the lead.

Patriot tight end Rob Gronkowski was clearly limited by an injured ankle and was ineffective in the game, catching just 2 passes for 26 yards.  The Patriot receivers were led by tight end Aaron Hernandez with 8 receptions for 67 yards.  Wide receiver Wes Welker caught 7 passes for 60 yards, but will be remember for the only one he didn’t catch – coming on the final drive of the game.

Each team mounted lengthy drives during the game.  Both offenses had 2 drives longer than 75 yards, including a record-tying 96-yard drive by the Patriots to end the first half.
