TCU linebacker Joel Hasley, who was second on the team tackles and tackles for loss last season, left the football team, the school announced Monday.

TCU is ranked No. 20 in the coaches’ preseason national poll, but Hasley is the second starter in a week to leave the program. Offensive tackle Tayo Fabuluje left the team last week, citing personal reasons.

Hasley was one of nine returning starters on the Frogs defense. Now, it’s down to eight.

“I’d like to thank Joel for everything he’s done for TCU and his commitment to our program,” Patterson said, according to CollegeFootballTalk.com. “We will miss him and wish him the best.”

Hasley started 10 games as a walk-on last season. He finished with 79 tackles and 8.5 tackles for loss.

Hasley was given a scholarship this past spring. However, he is close to completing his second degree at TCU, and, according to Patterson, Hasley “decided it was time to move on from football.
