Houston Thrashes Cowboys

In a game where players are supposedly fighting for a roster spot, the Dallas Cowboys showed little effort.  The visiting Houston Texans routed the Cowboys 24-6.

Dallas could generate no push on either side of the ball during the game.  The Cowboys running backs combined for less than 100 yards, while allowing the Texans to gain 190 on the ground.  Dallas fared no better through the air, allowing the Houston quarterbacks to have a combined QB rating of 130 – more than double the Dallas QB rating of 59.1.

Houston gained 20 first downs in the game, and reached the end zone on four drives.

Dallas converted just 3 of 14 3rd-down attempts, committed 8 penalties, and gave up 7 sacks.

The lone bright spot for the Cowboys was punter Chris Jones, who averaged over 50 yards on his 8 punts.

Dallas must trim its roster to 53 by Saturday, making cuts might be the easy part for coach Jason Garrett, finding enough players to keep could be his biggest challenge.
