HP Byron Nelson Championship Announces Family Friendly Initiatives

IRVING, TX, May 8, 2012 –HP Byron Nelson Championship officials announced today a number of initiatives designed to make the 2012 Championship week, May 14-20, more open and friendly to families with children. Free admission is available for children 13 and under courtesy of Tom Thumb, and free public parking is available at the intersection of SH 114 and Loop 12 in Irving.

Kroger Youth Clinic

  • On Tuesday, May 15 at 5 p.m., PGA TOUR professionals Harrison Frazar and Colt Knost will host a free clinic with World Long Drive Champion Dan Boever at TPC Four Seasons Practice Range.
  • AM 620 Radio Disney will bring the Phineas and Ferb truck and will provide music, games, dancing and prizes. The first 100 kids 12 and under will receive a Phineas and Ferb drawstring backpack. Free t-shirts, treats from Sprinkles Cupcakes and door prizes will also be available.
  • Free parking for the clinic is available across from TPC Four Seasons Practice Range (in Lot 1).

 

KidsZone presented by Children’s Medical Center

  • The KidsZone will be open 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Thursday, May 17 through Sunday, May 20. Admission is free, and the air-conditioned family-friendly venue will feature bounce houses, miniature golf and gaming stations.
  • The KidsZone is located off the No. 1 fairway.

HP Technology Zone

  • HP Technology Zone will be open 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. Thursday through Sunday. Admission is free, and the air-conditioned venue will offer spectators a look at HP’s latest products and services as well as the future direction of technology for Cadillac motors. Located on Champions Way, this high-tech area will also feature an interactive tribute to tournament namesake Byron Nelson.

Family Picnic Area

  • Picnic tables and family-friendly viewing areas will be available at the No. 2 tee and No. 9 green.

The 2012 HP Byron Nelson Championship will be played May 14-20 at the TPC Four Seasons Resort Las Colinas in Irving.
