HP BYRON NELSON CHAMPIONSHIP RAISES $4.8 MILLION FOR CHARITY

Irving, TX, August 26, 2010 –Salesmanship Club Charitable Golf of Dallas, host organization of the HP Byron Nelson Championship, announced today that the 2010 Championship raised $4.8 million for local children and families, bringing the total raised since the event’s inception to more than $116 million.

“We are extremely grateful to our title sponsor, HP, for their continued dedication to our greater cause and to our sponsors and volunteers whose support and hard work has brightened the futures of thousands of local children and families,” said 2010 Tournament Chairman George Conant. “The tremendous need for our charity’s services has never been greater, and it motivates us to push harder and reach further.”

Funds generated from the Championship benefit Salesmanship Club Youth and Family Centers, a nonprofit organization that provides education and therapy for at-risk children and their families in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. With 8,498 people served in 2009 alone, the demand for the services provided by SCYFC is indisputable. The Salesmanship Club provides the majority of SCYFC’s operating budget, primarily through the HP Byron Nelson Championship.

“Now more than ever, we understand the importance and impact of SCYFC in our community,” said Jeff Porter, Board Chairman of Salesmanship Club Youth and Family Centers. “Nine out of 10 J. Erik Jonsson Community School students graduate high school, and 91 percent of our most recent graduates are pursuing post-secondary education. To have such a visible, positive influence on these children is truly inspiring, and that’s just one example of the services we provide.”

The 2011 HP Byron Nelson Championship will be played Memorial Day weekend, May 23-29, at the TPC Four Seasons Resort Las Colinas in Irving. For more details, visit hpbnc.org.
