The inaugural TollTag Triathlon will be held Sunday, June 17, in Lewisville, organized by the Greater Lewisville Kiwanis Club and benefitting Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Denton County. North Texas Tollway Authority is the title sponsor of the race.

This timed sprint-style event will include a 500-meter open swim, 11-mile bike segment, and 3.1-mile run. The swim and run will be held at Toyota of Lewisville Railroad Park, and the bike ride will start and end at the park. Participants can enter as individuals, or as part of a relay team dividing the three race segments.

“We want to challenge everyone to come out and make this a successful event, either alone or as part of a team,” said Kiwanis President David Fowler.

Advance registration is open now and can be completed online at www.playtri.com/lewisville. Race information also is available at www.facebook.com/lvtriathlon. Hometown Suites in Lewisville is the official race hotel and is offering a discounted rate and grab-and-go breakfast for participants and spectators of the TollTag Triathlon.

In addition to North Texas Tollway Authority, race sponsors include ProTow Wrecker, Bicycles Plus, Mixed Media Creations, Texas-New Mexico Power and LPL Financial Services.

“I support community events such as this one because it showcases a phenomenal park, brings visitors to our community and provides funding for CASA – an agency that helps many children in Denton County,” said ProTow owner Mike Green.

Production services for the TollTag Triathlon will be provided by Dallas-based Playtri Racing, which produces more than 20 events in North Texas each year with a race team headed by USA Triathlon Level II Certified Race Director Staci Brode. Playtri has a long history well-organized, safe events with friendly volunteers and race staff.

Toyota of Lewisville Railroad Park is located at 1301 S. Railroad Street, just a mile off Interstate 35E. The 260-acre athletic complex is operated by the City of Lewisville and opened in November 2010. The park has been the site of large soccer, baseball, softball and skateboarding events. This will be the first triathlon staged at the park.

Greater Lewisville Kiwanis Club holds multiple activities each year to help children in Denton County, including the Western Days Stick Horse Rodeo in September and the popular Breakfast With Santa in December. The club meets at noon each Wednesday, and has a new program called Kiwanis Kasual for those who want to participate in the club but are unable to commit to weekly meetings.
