McClain Stays A Cowboy

Linebacker Rolando McClain is returning to the Dallas Cowboys on a one-year deal that will lead to some shuffling on the second level of their defense.

McClain, 25, resurrected his career in 2014, playing 13 games and recording 108 tackles for the Cowboys but faces a four-game fine for a substance abuse violation. Another positive test means a four-game suspension.

Bringing him back likely causes a ripple effect that includes former Pro Bowl selection Sean Lee sliding to weak-side linebacker. Lee missed all of last season and was dogged by injuries in 2013.

McClain missed games with knee and hamstring injuries and the regular-season finale due to illness. The Cowboys felt his nagging injuries were a byproduct of the former eighth overall pick getting back into NFL shape.
