Ogando Pitches In Frisco Win

FRISCO, TEXAS – Rangers starter Alexi Ogando made his rehab start as the Frisco RoughRiders beat the Tulsa Drillers 7-4 on Friday night at Dr Pepper Ballpark. Six different RoughRiders homered as Frisco took game one of the series.

With one out in the first, Joe Benson blasted a solo shot to left field to begin the surge. The ‘Riders (32-22) continued to dominate in a three-run fourth in which Chih-Hsien Chiang, Ryan Strausborger and Odubel Herrera each knocked solo blasts. Teodoro Martinez hit a solo shot of his own in the fifth, extending the ‘Riders lead to 5-0.

The Drillers (23-30) finally responded in the sixth after Delta Cleary Jr. reached first on a fielding error by Chiang. Kiel Roling then fired a two run homer to center field, closing Frisco’s lead 5-2.

In the eighth, Rafael Ortega singled to right, and then advanced to second on a balk by Kevin Pucetas. Cleary Jr. singled to right and moved Ortega to third. Roling then grounded into a double play to score the run, putting the score within two runs, 5-3.

Alejandro Selen led off the eighth with a double down the left line. Later in the frame, Mike Olt slammed a two-run home run out of the park to put Frisco up 7-3.

Tulsa added one more run in the ninth after Jose Gonzalez got hit by the pitch thrown by Justin Miller. Cristhian Adames then knocked an RBI double to right-center, making the final score 7-4.

Ogando (1-0) pitched six innings, allowing two runs, including a home run, on four hits and striking out four to earn the victory. Christian Bergman (3-4) suffered the defeat, allowing five home runs on six hits in six innings. With two outs and the bases loaded in the ninth, Ben Rowen came in relief of Miller, getting the final out to earn his sixth save.

The RoughRiders continue their series with the Tulsa Drillers at Dr Pepper Ballpark Saturday at 7:05 p.m. Nick McBride (0-0, 6.75 ERA) makes the start for the ‘Riders, facing Drillers right-hander Sean Gallagher (1-0, 1.86 ERA).
