Rangers beat Yankees by 5

The Texas Rangers got three monkeys off their back with a 7-2 victory over the New York Yankees to tie the ALCS at 1 each.  The Rangers rebounded from last night’s 8th inning disaster and in the process won their first ever home playoff game while stopping a 10-game playoff losing streak to the Yankees.

Texas started quickly, building a 5-0 lead for the second night in a row.  This time, however, the Rangers were able to hold on to the lead.

In the first inning, Texas showed it was going to play aggressive by sending Elvis Andrus and Josh Hamilton on a double-steal play, with Andrus scoring.  Texas has stolen 11 bases in the post-season, the most by any team.

The Rangers battered the Yankees starting pitcher again.  This time getting all 7 runs off Phil Hughes.  Texas had 6 extra-base hits, giving them 25 for the post-season.

Texas again used 5 relievers from it’s bullpen, but this time they held.  The Texas bullpen gave up no runs, atoning for the Game 1 problems.

The Rangers will travel to New York, where Cliff Lee will try to put them ahead in the series.
