Rangers Go Flat Against Twins

The Texas Rangers desperately want Adrian Beltre to return to the lineup.  Without Beltre the Rangers are looking very weak against left-handed pitching.  Such was the case Wednesday night in the 7-2 loss to the Minnesota Twins.

Texas could only scatter 9 hits in the game, leaving 10 on base.  Elvis Andrus, Yorvit Torrealba, and Endy Chavez each had two hits in the game.

With the Rangers trailing 4-1 in the 6th, Elvis Andrus was caught stealing 3rd in a play which typifyed the evening.  The Rangers were trying to force some offense and could not get anything rolling.  During that at-bat, Michael Young hit a single which would have scored Andrus from 2nd base.

Starting pitcher Colby Lewis threw 6 2/3 innings, giving up 4 runs on 8 hits to get the loss.  Lewis, C.J. Wilson, and Alexi Ogando all have 10 wins for the Rangers and lost their first attempt at number 11.

The Rangers fielding woes continue to haunt them as an error by Michael Young in the 9th allowed the Twins to load the bases instead of ending the inning.  The very next batter, Jason Kubel, doubled home all 3 runners to seal the game for Minnesota.

Game 4 of the series with the Twins is tonight at the Ballpark in Arlington.
