Rangers lose at home to A’s

The Texas Rangers’ skid continues as they fall to Oakland 7-2 on Monday night at the Ballpark in Arlington.

C.J. Wilson went 7 complete innings before coming out in the 8th after walking the first two batters.  Wilson gave up 5 earned runs in his second loss of the year, both against the A’s.  Wilson only allowed 2 hits, but he walked 5.  Reliever Ryan Tucker could not last an inning, as he gave up two hits to allow the walked batters to score, and walked two of his own.  Rangers manager Ron Washington had to bring in Brett Tomko to get out of the disasterous 8th inning.

Texas only trailed 3-1 going into the 8th inning, as they outhit the A’s 9-4.  The Rangers, though, could not string hits together to bring the runners home.  Nine of ten Ranger batters left runners on base, the lone exception being Mitch Moreland, who hit a solo home run in the 5th.

The Rangers fall to .500 for the first time since May 5 of last year.  After starting 9-1, Texas has now gone 9-17.

Play continues between the Rangers and A’s tonight at the Ballpark.
