Rangers lose in 14

The Texas Rangers got off to a fast offensive start, scoring 7 runs in the first two innings.  Unfortunately, they didn’t score again in the next 12 innings as the Kansas City Royals won 12-7 in 14 innings.

Texas used 8 pitchers in the game, starting with Colby Lewis, who gave up 6 early runs, but left the game with a 7-6 lead after 6 innings.  Things stayed at 7-6 until Neftali Feliz gave up the game-tying run in the 9th inning on a home run by Alex Gordon.  It is Feliz’ 3rd blown save this season, all against the Royals.

David Bush gets the loss for the Rangers as he gave up 3 home runs in the 14th inning.

The Texas batters started fine, Ian Kinsler hit a home run to lead off the bottom of the 1st, Josh Hamilton and Michael Young got back to back doubles, and David Murphy hit an early home run.   The Rangers keep it going in the 2nd, as Elvis Andrus hit an RBI single and then scores on a ground ball by Hamilton.

The Rangers went cold after the 2nd, totaling only 7 hits for the entire game.  Nelson Cruz went 0-for-7, leaving 8 on base.

Texas and Kansas City square off again tonight at the Ballpark in Arlington.
