Rangers Routed By White Sox

The White Sox made sure that Ron Washington heard their anger over the All Star game selection tonight in a strong way.

The Texas Rangers fall to the Chicago White Sox 19-2 on Tuesday in a game that the White Sox dominated from the first inning. The Rangers now trail in the series 0-1.

Roy Oswalt was the starting pitcher and looked to go 3-0 in his first three starts. The White Sox had other plans. In just 4 2/3 innings, Oswalt gave up 13 hits for his second consecutive game and also gave up 11 runs giving the White Sox a 11-0 lead before being retired. Tonight just wasn’t the night for the Ranger’s pitching staff.

“Every center-cut ball we put on that plate they certainly didn’t miss,” Rangers manager Ron Washington said. “We were thoroughly beat tonight. Just couldn’t stop their offense.”

Unlike the White Sox offense, the Rangers offense struggled in scoring runs. The team combined for 9 hits and only 2 runs in the loss. The Rangers avoided a scoreless game in the top of the eight inning when a double by Elvis Andrus led to two runs by Rangers Craig Gentry and Mike Napoli.

The White Sox pitching was led by Chris Sale who gave up only 5 hits and a run in 7 1/3 innings. Third baseman Kevin Youkilis led the White Sox offense with 4 RBI’s, 3 hits and 3 runs.

The Rangers hope to retaliate when they take on the White Sox in Chicago on Wednesday. First pitch is at 6:10 p.m.
