The Texas Rangers shut out the St. Louis Cardinals 4-0 in Game 4 of the World Series.  The best-of-seven series is tied at 2 games each.

Starting pitcher Derek Holland went 8 2/3 innings, giving up just 2 hits, by far the best performance by a Rangers hurler in the postseason.  “We needed him to go out there and pitch well and he did, and he showed the world what he’s capable of doing,” said Rangers manager Ron Washington.

The Rangers got on top early with Elvis Andrus scoring on a Josh Hamilton double in the first inning.  Texas held the 1-0 lead through 5 innings.   Mike Napoli blew the game open with a 3-run home run in the 6th inning to make the score 4-0.

After walking Rafael Furcal in the 9th, Holland was replaced by Rangers closer Neftali Feliz to get the final 2 outs and seal the Rangers victory.

Game 5 will be tonight at the Ballpark in Arlington with C.J. Wilson on the mound for the Rangers against Chris Carpenter.
