Rangers Swept By Yankees

The Texas Rangers finally got a good showing from their starting pitcher.  Unfortunately, this time the bats were quiet as the Rangers fell to the New York Yankees 3-2 in 12 innings.  The Yankees complete the 3-game series with the first sweep of Texas this season.  It is the 5th straight loss for the Rangers, and the 8th in the last 10 games.

Starting pitcher C.J. Wilson went 8 innings, giving up just 2 runs while striking out 10.  Darren Oliver put 3 men on base, but did not allow a run in the 9th.  Reliever Michael Kirkman gave up a Yankee run in the bottom of the 12th for the loss.

Each of the Texas batters reached base at least once, but the Rangers could not advance them.  “We had opportunities today, and the right part of the lineup coming up. All we needed was that one big hit and we didn’t get it.”, lamented Rangers manager Ron Washington.

Texas will try to turn things around Friday night in Atlanta.
