Rangers Top A’s

The Texas Rangers won 6-1 in their series opener against the Oakland Athletics on Tuesday in a game that was completely dominated by the Rangers offense and defense.
Roy Oswalt was the starting pitcher for the Rangers and did a great job in controlling the flow of the game. Oswalt pitched 6 1/3 innings and only gave up one run in the seventh inning. He held the Athletics to only three hits during his outting and had six strikeouts. Oswalt is 3-1 since coming to the Rangers.
“He did an excellent job,” Rangers manager Ron Washington said. “He had a real good mix tonight. He changed speeds, kept the ball down, got ahead of hitters. … He did a real good job. He really did.”
The Rangers lit up Oakland as Josh Hamilton recorded his 28th home run and Adrien Beltre hit his 17th. Beltre finished the night with an RBI, a hit and a run in the fourth inning which triggered a hitting spree from the Rangers offense. Hamilton finished the night with two RBI’s, a hit and a run in the eight inning.
The Rangers look to take the series win on Wednesday as they take on the Athletics in Oakland. First pitch is at 2:35 p.m.
