Rangers Trounce Twins

The Texas Rangers belted out 27 hits on the way to a 20-6 drubbing of the Minnesota Twins Monday night in Arlington.

just one night after being shutout by the Blue Jays, the Rangers had their second-most number of hits in team history (29 against the Orioles in 2007).  Texas scored at least 3 runs in each of the first 5 innings, something that has only been done 3 times since 1900 in the MLB.

Ian Kinsler, Nelson Cruz, and Mike Napoli all had 4 hits on the night.  Elvis Andrus, Michael Young, Mitch Moreland, and Endy Chavez each had 3 hits for the Rangers.  The only starter not to get a hit for Texas was Chris Davis, who went 0-6 while filling in for the injured Adrian Beltre.  Davis had a forgettable night as he also made two fielding errors.

Ian Kinsler and Michael Young both had home runs for the Rangers.

Starting pitcher Derek Holland improved his record to 9-4 after giving up just 1 run on 5 hits in 6 innings.  Scott Feldman, Arthur Rhodes, and Neftali Feliz pitched an inning each and gave up 5 runs between them.

Texas increased it’s lead to 4 games over the Angels in the AL West after L.A. lost to the Cleveland Indians.

The Rangers host the Twins again tonight at the Ballpark in Arlington.
