FRISCO, TEXAS – Scoring two three-run home runs by Joe Benson and Hanser Alberto, the Frisco RoughRiders beat the Springfield Cardinals 6-5 Tuesday night at Dr Pepper Ballpark. The win extended the ‘Riders winning streak to six games.

Benson put the ‘Riders (30-21) on the board in the first, blasting a three-run home run to left field, bringing home Odubel Herrera and Brett Nicholas to put Frisco up 3-0. This was Benson’s third homer in his three games with the ‘Riders this season.

In the third, James Ramsey took a one-out walk and then stole second, then Ruben Gotay knocked an RBI single to right field. The Cardinals (24-25) trimmed the ‘Riders lead again in the fourth on a leadoff home run by Adam Melker, leaving Frisco with a 3-2 lead.

Leading off the sixth, Gotay doubled down the right line. Later in the frame, Melker slammed his second home run of the night, putting the Cardinals on top. Following a pair of singles by Starlin Rodriguez and Jake Lemmerman, Luis Mateo singled to center to bring Rodriguez home from third, extending Springfield’s lead 5-3.
