FRISCO, TEXAS – The Frisco RoughRiders fell to the Tulsa Drillers 7-3 Saturday night at Dr Pepper Ballpark. The loss was Frisco’s first of the season against Tulsa, and tied the series at one apiece.

‘Riders starter Nick McBride struggled in his second start for Frisco. With two out in the first, the Drillers (24-30) came alive, with runs off two singles by Kyle Parker and Kent Matthes, a wild pitch and a walk by McBride with bases loaded, and a two-run double by Rafael Ortega to give Tulsa a 6-0 lead in the first.

Tulsa added to their lead in the second. Kiel Roling doubled to left, and then Parker singled to right field, moving Roling to third. Angelys Nina knocked an RBI single off McBride to right field, extending the Drillers lead to 7-0.

The RoughRiders (32-23) finally got something going in the eighth after Josh Mueller came in relief of Driller starter Sean Gallagher. Alex Buchholz led off the frame with a single to right, and Ryan Strausborger followed with a single to center. Teodoro Martinez then slammed a home run to left field, cutting Tulsa’s lead 7-3, which became the final score.

In his second night of the season with the ‘Riders, Mike Olt had his first two-hit night since coming off the disabled list this week. He struck out his first two at-bats then singled in the seventh and doubled to left-center in the ninth.

Gallagher shut the ‘Riders down, pitching seven innings, allowing just two hits and striking out five to earn the win. McBride pitched two innings, giving up all seven of Tulsa’s runs to suffer the loss.
